Decodable phonics-based reading online events for NSW Teachers

Oxford University Press presents two live online free events exploring decodable phonics-based reading. The first event is for New South Wales educators in preparation for the Phonics Screening Check. The second is for all Australian educators to learn more about Oxford’s decodable phonics-based reading texts. Each session is interactive and will conclude with time for Q&A.

Phonics Session 1: For NSW only
Wednesday, 28 October | 4PM AEDT

This 40-minute webinar, for educators in New South Wales considers the latest educational research and the teaching of reading to help prepare for the Phonics Screening Check. A Literacy Leader from South Australia will share her school’s experience of the Phonics Screening Check
and the implementation of a successful reading program.

In this session you will also learn more about Oxford’s phonics resources which encompass explicit systematic synthetic phonics programs and an extensive selection of decodable texts.

 

Phonics Session 2: For Australia wide
Wednesday, 11 November | 4PM AEDT

This 40-minute webinar will unpack the approach that underpins decodable texts within Hero Academy, Alien Adventures, Floppy’s Phonics, and Traditional Tales published by Oxford to support the teaching of synthetic phonics in Australian schools.

In this session educators will be guided through the features of each series and the extensive online support offered free on Oxford Owl.
