Wendy Coggins B. App. SC (Sp Path), MSPAA, CPSP
Wendy is a Certified Practising Speech Language Pathologist of over 30 years’ experience, specialising in communication and literacy problems of primary school students. She recognises the importance of quality teaching and small group work in addition to one to one therapy for struggling students. Wendy has worked in over 20 schools and has presented a range of in-service programmes to state and independent schools.
Teachers today face increasing challenges in the classroom. Not only is there a diverse range of learning needs within the classroom, but the very technologies which demand teachers’ attention as learning tools are encroaching on students’ oral language development in the home environment.
Her workshop will detail effective and practical strategies to improve student engagement and response to explicit language instruction. The goals of the workshop are to:
- Identify weak communicators in the classroom and area of difficulty
- Unpack four really useful language strategies
- Facilitate a plan of implementation for one or more of these strategies.
Participants will engage in a number of learning exercises.
