Workshop:

The Talk for Writing process is an incredibly effective approach for developing strong writing skills, whether students are just beginning their schooling or are progressing to upper primary and beyond.

This workshop will investigate how the Innovation phase of a Talk for Writing unit can be used to develop creativity and individuality in students’ writing, and how more confident writers can be challenged in order to allow their skills to grow.

Participants will explore how to move away from the model text when innovating, and the use of short-burst writing activities at text, sentence and word level to build the skills and ideas needed for writing longer texts.

In addition, the use of Invention in both early years and primary classes will be explored, as a way of providing students with opportunities to write for pleasure using their growing knowledge of writing tools and styles.

It is a Talk for Writing master class and prior attendance at a Talk for Writing fundamentals workshop is a pre-requisite for attendance.
