SPELD NSW is a Public Benevolent Institution whose mission is to provide advice and services to children and adults with specific learning difficulties and those who support them. We provide a number of services including advocacy, specialised training for teachers, advice for parents and tutoring for those affected. We endeavour to keep our services as affordable as possible to help those most in need.

We are seeking an experienced Executive Officer/Manager to co-ordinate the activities of our educators, other staff and volunteers.

This is a busy and diverse role that will require you to work flexibly and autonomously. You will be passionate about helping people with specific learning difficulties like dyslexia and you may have had previous experience in or around the education sector.

You will have excellent organisational skills and you will be faced with challenges that will draw on your time management skills, communication skills and your ability to work to deadlines.   You will report directly to the Management Committee.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Organising and hosting in-house professional development events
Compiling the monthly newsletter
Managing the membership base (renewals)
Management/development of fundraising activities/grant applications
Liaising with schools to promote our objectives
Overseeing the preparation of the monthly financials
General organisational management duties

Requisite experience / knowledge:

Demonstrated management skills
Positive attitude and proactive nature
Ability to work effectively under pressure with minimal supervision
Solid problem solving skills
Ability to effectively communicate verbally and written to a diverse client group
Computer literacy in Microsoft applications (intermediate Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word)
A bonus would be experience in the education sector
