Permanent part time position (3-4 days per week).

SPELD NSW is seeking a registered psychologist who is keen to further develop their skills in providing assessments as we expand our psychological assessments service.  The successful candidate will join a supportive team who are passionate about providing assistance to children and adults with specific learning difficulties.

SPELD NSW provides information, support and assistance to children and adults with specific learning difficulties like dyslexia and to their families, tutors, teachers and schools.

Based in Parramatta, SPELD NSW is a charity that is over 50 years old. SPELD NSW provides a free information and referral service, professional learning workshops for teachers and professionals, resources to schools, tutors and families and psychological assessment of children and adults with specific learning difficulties.

This position is a part time position and can either be 3 days per week (Monday to Wednesday, 9am to 5pm) or 4 days per week (Monday to Thursday, 9am to 3pm).

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to travel to Perth and spend up to three weeks in Perth undertaking training and induction into the position with the psychologists at the Dyslexia SPELD Foundation of WA (the SPELD organisation in Western Australia).  Ongoing opportunities for professional development, supervision and training are also available.


What is the fundamental purpose of the position?

  1. To assess children, adolescents and adults who are experiencing learning difficulties.
  2. To provide support, practical strategies and recommendations in order to alleviate the effects of learning difficulties and disabilities.
  3. To support the development of SPELD NSW’s psychological assessment services.


The successful candidate may also get involved in the delivery of professional learning workshops and in developing and supporting other functions of SPELD NSW.
